Menopause Is More Than HRT - New Menopause Nutrition Clinic in Bath

Menopause Is More Than HRT!

Over the last couple of years, the menopause has become a mainstream hot topic. It seems as though every female celebrity of a certain age is extolling the virtues of HRT as a ‘cure-all’ for menopausal symptoms.

The reality can be very different. There are women who don’t want to take HRT or can’t take it.  There are women who take HRT and don’t feel great. They may still have menopausal symptoms such as weight gain or feel fatigued or bloated. And maybe visits to the GP don’t shed any light as to the reason why or offer any solutions. So where do they start?

The good news is that diet and lifestyle changes can make a huge difference to how a woman experiences the menopause transition. However, navigating the sheer volume of information online can feel overwhelming.

The answer for some may lie in personalised nutrition and lifestyle advice, where each client’s full unique health and medical history is taken into consideration, as well as their individual food and exercise preferences and life challenges.

For those in, or close to, Bath, a new clinic to support women going through the menopause has opened at the Apthorp Centre in the Weston area.

‘Bath Menopause Nutritional Therapy & Health Coaching Clinic’ helps women to address their diet and lifestyle as they go through peri- to post-menopause, either alongside or as an alternative to HRT.

The benefit of nutritional therapy for clients is that they gain a greater understanding of how their bodies are working and why they are experiencing certain symptoms. Recommendations are tailored to each person and by working closely together, the client and the therapist can perfect a way of eating and living that works in the long-term without restrictive or complicated plans.

Alexis Prior is a BANT and CNHC Registered Nutritional Therapist and certified Health Coach who is trained in the functional medicine approach. For the last 11 years, she has worked with women over 40, supporting them with symptoms of menopause, and also helping them manage their weight, metabolic health, and digestive health.

Alexis says….

“I feel we need a more proactive approach to the menopause that empowers us to feel more positive and in control of our health. We’re more than a set of hormones, so the conversation needs to go beyond HRT. Whilst it can be a godsend, it is not always a magic bullet, and it’s not the only tool we have.

There is so much that we can do with targeted and evidence-based diet and lifestyle changes. My job is to take away the overwhelm and help my clients to achieve their goals more easily and enjoyably, and to put solid foundations in place for a healthy future.”

Alexis is offering a FREE 1-hour Healthy Menopause talk on Tuesday 16th January at 10am, or Monday 22nd January at 2pm. Places can be reserved by emailing
