Over the years, like so many of us, I’ve had my own health issues, both physical and mental. From my mid-teens I experienced panic attacks and social anxiety, and I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis in my 30s. I always felt that the power was in my hands to manage these issues, but I needed expert advice. I sought out some wonderful therapists and body workers over the years and they have all given me tools and advice that I continue to use today.
It was this experience that led me to training in Nutritional Therapy. Changing my diet and lifestyle had such an amazing effect on my health and I wanted to share this with others.
Now that I have reached 50 (definitely the new 40!) I have realised that there’s just not enough understanding about the perimenopause. In particular, how our underlying imbalances and health issues affect our symptoms. We are all different. My wish is to help women get their oomph back by understanding what is happening in their bodies. We’re all unique.
I qualified with distinction from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London, and am trained in the functional medicine approach to health and nutrition. This involves using the latest evidence in nutritional science to help you identify what is causing you to feel unwell. I help you to find the root cause of your symptoms, and to put a plan in place that supports your health.
Your body is fundamentally programmed to restore you back to health, but there are barriers that stand in its way. I help you identify your barriers, whether that’s diet or lifestyle, stress or psychological issues. There may be other factors such as nutrient deficiencies, underlying infections, immune or hormonal imbalances that need to be tackled. I then give you the tools and knowledge you need to feel more in control.
I am a passionate life-long learner, so I am constantly updating my knowledge and skills through training courses and continuous professional development.
I am a registered BANT and CNHC Nutritional Therapist.
I live in the beautiful city of Bath, Somerset and hold clinics in Bath and globally online.
I am grateful (on positive days!) that I have been on my own health journey, because I am far healthier, happier and feel more in control than ever, and it’s this that I seek to pass on to my clients. We’re not all perfect, but we can be our own version of perfect!
I have a passion for vibrant, colourful, beautiful food. In my previous life, I worked around the world in the travel industry, and loved the variety of cuisines, from Mexican to Indian, Jamaican to Portuguese.
However, I am busy, and I’m no culinary genius, as you will see from my social media pages. Therefore, everything I eat and recommend is simple to put together and maximizes nutrition and flavour.
In my spare time I crave the outdoors and long walks, especially along the Pembrokeshire Coast. I am a regular Crossfitter (more enthusiastic than proficient) and I love stand-up paddle-boarding.
I have to balance this activity with downtime and relaxation, so you’ll also find me reading and enjoying time with my family and friends. I have an increasing collection of boots and love coffee and chocolate!
